ABOUT HERU - Yoga For The Blind

HERU Yoga for the Blind was founded by Hanna Wroblewski in 2021 to make yoga accessible to people with visual impairments.

It started during the pandemic as a response to the lack of accessible online yoga resources for the visually impaired community.

HERU Yoga for the Blind’s offerings include a podcast with over 40 sequences to practice at home, a monthly free Zoom workshop, and weekly online classes via Zoom.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER - Hanna Wroblewski

Hanna is a dance and yoga teacher with over 20 years of experience working in inclusive settings. Inspired by her father, who was diagnosed with a rare eye condition several years ago, she founded HERU Yoga for the Blind in 2021.

She has a BA in Dance Teaching, a MFA in choreography, and a 300-hour yoga certification. The knowledge she has gained through her education and her decades-long teaching experience has given her the foundation to design these sessions for people with visual impairments.

As of 2023, she is the lead teacher at Rambert for the first UK contemporary dance classes for sight loss.

TESTIMONIALS

"I have benefited so much from joining the sessions, which I have been involved with from the start. I am totally blind and live alone. I find the yoga movements has got me in tune with my body, even if I don’t always get it perfect!

The time we spend at the end of the class to be thankful for the love of our family and friends makes me quite emotional but I always come away from the sessions with a spring in my step and a great big smile on my face."

Maureen

"I have never experienced Yoga before but thanks to Hanna offering us classes, her skill, guidance, and kindness have given me such a sense of calm well-being that was unexpected and something I very much need in my life.

The class is so inclusive and friendly - thank you so much!"

"I have followed all your sessions, I have noticed a huge difference in my flexibility and posture… Thank you"

Ruth

" I really thought the session worked well and your instructions were easy to follow. This is especially important with a visual impairment so well done! I found the Q&A at the end of class so informative, so thanks too for the great advice."

Jean

"I enjoy the descriptive motion and the tone and the pace of the movement and instruction, all appear to be very clear, easy and very comfortable to follow."

What I enjoyed about your yoga class, it’s very informal; your instruction technique is very good. You treat everyone with kindness & respect. Your question & answer at the end of the session is very helpful.
